Popular female comedian, Helen Paul, was at the Glo Laffta Fest in Abeokuta, Ogun State last weekend. It was her first outing for the brand.
Helen Paul performed alongside accomplished humour merchants such as Godwin Komone widely called Gordons, Bash, Acapella, and comic duo of Ojo Ladipupo Daniel and Ogunsina Ayodeji Samuel who are professionally known as Still Ringing.
MC Sogo, Bishop, MC Mike, MC Black were among the outstanding budding comedians that performed.
But Helen Paul introduced a new twist to the performances.
The female comediene with a 7-year-old voice baited her audience with first-to-remove-wig challenge. The first lady who would come on stage to remove her wig was promised the prize money of N50,000.
When some ladies from the audience came out, Helen Paul proceeded to conduct a mock beauty pageant with them, throwing a series of hilarious banters along the way.
The show was graced by the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, a traditional ruler, Olu Aga, Aga Olowo, Oba Kusoro Kayode, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Clement Oladele, and Ogun State Commissioner for Information, Mr Dayo Adeneye.
Others include the state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Muyiwa Oladipo, his counterpart in the Ministry of Environment, Bolaji Odeleye and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Tola Banjo.
The night was made more colourful with the appearance of top Yoruba actors, Odunlade Adekola and Bolaji Amusan, alias, Mr. Latin.
Lagos Island has been billed to host the next edition of the comedy tour at Eko Hotel in Lagos this Sunday. Other cities that will host the show in the weeks ahead include Kubwa, Ikeja, FESTAC, Ajah, Suleja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Lokoja, Makurdi and Anyigba.
