THE Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has charged contractors handling various projects in the territory to reciprocate the good gesture of the FCT Administration by keeping faith with the payment of obligations and delivering their projects according to specification.
The various projects numbering over 24, most of which had been abandoned or suspended, had received a boost with the payment of outstanding obligations to the contractors amounting to over N57 billion, by his administration.
Action has also returned to Roads B6 and B12-the Constitution and Independence Avenues respectively, abandoned over eight years ago. The roads, which were located in Central Area, by the front of the World Trade Centre and behind the Diplomatic Drive, had been abandoned for over eight years now.
He gave this charge when he visited the site of the Inner Southern Express Way (ISEX) interchange, near the AYA junction, Abuja.
Malam Bello commended the management and staff of Salini Nigeria Ltd, for their efforts to deliver the road within the three months’ time frame agreed. He expressed the hope that the portion of road its interchange would be open to motorists by the end of July.
“The ISEX way which leads into the Central Area fits into the programme of this administration which aims to complete on-going projects that have the greatest benefits for the greatest number of people”, he stressed.
At about 97 per cent completion, the road, the minister hoped, “would break the gridlock at AYA and bring a significant lease of life for motorists coming from both Nyanya-Keffi axis and Kubwa road.”
Other road projects which are at various stages of completion include the Outer Northern Express Road (the Murtala Mohammed Express Road) Lots 1 and II including the Villa Roundabout, which also leads to AYA.
Other projects receiving serious attention were water projects like construction of two layout water tanks at the Hill Layout and Dallas Estate, as well as Tanks one and six and their associated trunk mains to service unreached areas with pipe borne water.
