We should all be familiar with the trend of seeing tee shirts and blouses with faces of superstars like Tupac, Notorious BIG, Rihanna, Beyonce, Michael Jackson and so on on, them. Also, the trend of Nigerians printing faces on their tee shirts started off for burial, wakes or candlelight processions for the burial of loved ones, but it suddenly shifted to weddings, whereby the perfectly made up facial picture of the bride is emblazoned on tee shirts and worn by her friends or distributed as souvenirs.
It gradually moved to celebrities such as Ini Edo, Rukky Sanda, Mercy Aigbe, Tonto Dike and so on, having their red carpet pictures emblazoned on their mobile phone casings. Before we could say Style, many celebrities have embraced the trend of having their glamorous pictures printed on their dresses, blouses and bags and flaunt them on Instagram.
Nigerians who look up to stylish celebrities for fashion inspirations also joined the band wagon and started having their own pictures also em on their outfits.
While some fashionistas may see this trend as tack and narcissistic, others would say there’s no better way to show you love yourself than through having your picture printed on your outfit.
