IN its quest to sustain current tempo on anti-corruption battle, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is proposing to spend N230, 536,000 on legal fees in prosecution of those accused of corrupt practices in 2017.
In contrast however, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) will spend N28, 134,100 on legal services should the National Assembly approve the Appropriation Bill as presented by President Muhammadu Buhari.
A perusal of the Appropriation Bill showed that EFCC got total allocation of N17.2 billion out of which N7.1 billion would be spent on salaries; N3.007 billion on overhead and N7.07 billion on capital.
EFCC will also spend N7.5 billion on financial consulting while ICPC has a projection of N24.2 billion on the same sub-head.
The document further revealed that EFCC may also spend refreshment and meals N40.2 with another N41.2 million on sporting activities.
Other highlights include N 62,760,000 on electricity in a quest by Federal Government to defray the scores of billions owed to various electricity distribution companies by government agencies, ministries and departments.
In addition, the anti-graft agency will expend N88,212,700 on maintenance of generators and motor vehicles; N212,245,000 on motor vehicle and generator fuel; and a total of N655 million on purchase of various categories and types of motor vehicles.
Other proposed spending includes uniforms- N18.2 million; sitting allowance- N20.04 million; security vote- N150 Million; postages & courier services- N39.1 million and discipline and appointment- N500 million.
On its part, ICPC may spend a total allocation of N5.9 billion broken down into N3.8 billion for personnel; N1.3 billion on overhead and N767.8 million on capital expenditure.
The pioneer anti-graft agency is also to spend N57.6 million on electricity bills; N24.6 million on security vote and N118,960,000 on purchase of operational vehicles.
