A fast-rising record label, Dreams Records has unveiled its new acts, ‘Hypa’. They are not exactly new to the industry but their works have basically been on various social media outlets. The singers are said to have been thrilling social media fans with the good music they make before the record label boss of Dreams Records stumbled on them and made it a culture to listen to the singers’ music too. Fate smiled on them when Dreams Records boss revealed his intention to sign them to his music label.
Born Ekemode Rasheed Enitan and Ekemode Ganiu Omobolaji, Hypa grew up in Bariga where they started doing music in their neighbourhood. . They started with performances in shows around Bariga and its environs before they got signed to Dream Records.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer, Dreams Records, Mr. Oni Ebenezer expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the signing of the new acts to his label and wished them good success in the music industry.
“We feel this is the right time to announce our first acts, Hypa, because we have listened to what they have to offer and we are convinced that they have what it takes to compete in the Nigerian music scene”.
He said that the label is passionate about what is in the pipeline and is looking forward to discovering other top-notch artistes in a bid to keep the label flying high.
The newly signed artistes, in a chat with Friday Treat, revealed that although the musical group has a unique fusion called Afro Highlife, their musical taste have been influenced by Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey.
The duo said that their new track ‘Alert’ was inspired by the present economic drawback facing the country at the moment.
