Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Most Reverend Gabriel Abegunrin, has cautioned the Catholic lay faithful against playing politics with church affairs.
He stated this in response to a question, at an interactive forum, as part of activities marking the 2017 World Day of Communications, organised by the Catholic Association of Media Practitioners (CAMP), Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan.
The events, which were held from May 22, ran through till last Sunday. Among the activities included visit to various media houses by Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin; symposium on the Pope’s Message for the 2017 World Communications Day with the theme: Fear Not, I am With You; forum with the archbishop; retreat and thanksgiving mass, held last Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, Oke-Padre, Ibadan.
Speaking at the forum, which was an interactive session between the archbishop and the laity, an avenue where questions from the people were answered by the cleric, Archbishop Abegunrin, who called on the Catholic lay faithful to support the promotion of indigenous languages, discouraged playing politics with church affairs.
He lamented the state of the economy and its effects on families, calling for more active participation in spiritual activities to engender church growth.
