IF one should look at the stress members of the football team to the last Olympics in Rio, Brazil went through, before and during the competition, then one should commend them for the feat of winning the bronze medal at the competition. One funny thing is that this is also the only medal we won in Brazil. Before the start of the competition, our sports ministry did not treat our athletes well; there were no preparations, and many of the athletes were left to their fate. Despite this, the football players gave their best and they won bronze. Although we could have won the gold if the government had treated them better, but even with the bronze, Nigeria became the first team to win all the medals in the football category at the Olympics. Four years ago, we didn’t win any medal in London, and many people felt we needed to do better in Rio, Brazil, but nothing much has changed. What will happen in the next four years can then be imagined, unless we have a serious sports ministry.
