Militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has warned the public against new Twitter handles attributed to it.
The group denied owning @Real_Ndavengers and @NDAvengers1, after its Twitter handle, @NDAvengers, was suspended on Monday.
It said the two strange Twitter handles were from impostors and enemies of the region who are allegedly working with government against the struggle of the Niger Delta.
The group, in its website, www.nigerdeltaavengers.org, on Tuesday evening, denied the Twitter handles and some of their messages reeled out to the public, saying it was the handiwork of scammers who wanted to deceive the public.
Spokesperson of the group, Brig. Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, said some of the messages, including “@Real_Ndavengers: The NDA high command are aware of the plot by #APC to remove Gov Ikpeazu & replace with Uche Ogah who is loyal to them. We are watching!!!,” were not from Avengers, but scammers.
Agbinibo said the only Twitter account being operated by the group was @NDAvengers and has remained suspended by Twitter operators for violating some of its policies.
“This is the only Twitter account we have and it is under suspension from Twitter because we bridged their policy.
“@Real_Ndavengers and @NDAvengers1 are all impostors and enemies of the region.
“The general public should not listen to those handles because they are government’s agents against our struggle,” the spokesperson reiterated.
He added that the walls of @Real_Ndavengers and @NDAvengers1 revealed that the scammers took advantage of the suspended account to pose as Avengers before the public.
“The date and time shows they took advantage of our suspended account to scam the general public. Please be mindful of these accounts,” Agbinibo pleaded.
The group did not, however, deny Monday bombings of oil and gas facilities in Warri, Delta State.
