The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has reacted to a resolution of the state’s House of Assembly to issue an arrest warrant on ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi for not honouring their invitation and described it as “a joke taken too far.”
The APC in Ekiti State also warned that it will not take what it has referred to as an attempt to embarrass Dr Fayemi by the House of Assembly lightly.
Reacting to the development, the party’s publicity secretary in the state, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun, alleged that the lawmakers were being pushed into the decision by Governor Fayose.
Olatunbosun said in a statement that “the lawmakers are being pushed into issuing a bench warrant against Fayemi by Governor Fayose who has usurped their powers by declaring himself the Speaker of the House of Assembly.”
Olatunbosun said he “challenged the lawmakers to move freely on the streets of Ado Ekiti or their constituencies where they have lost all support.”
He said: “The APC wishes to state clearly that Dr. Fayemi is too busy and focused in his national assignments to be distracted by a bunch of loafers.
“We warn that any attempt to embarrass Dr. Fayemi in any form would not be taken lightly by the party.”
