I want to appeal to the Oyo State government and the Ido Local Government to come and help us rehabilitate the Benbo-Oloko-Elere Road in Apata.
This road is under the Ido Local Government, and it has been made worse by a sham water project which led to the destruction of portions of the road to make way for the water pipes. The said road is just so terrible today that car owners need to visit their mechanics on a weekly basis for one complaint or the other.
I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to the state and Ido local government to help us rehabilitate the NNPC-Iyana Cele Road, also in Apata.
In actual fact, this road is no longer motorable, and only commercial motorcycle operators, popularly called okada, ply it now.
These two roads are really affecting residents negatively, and I hope the government can come to our aid.
I understand that the state government recently advertised for contractors to bid for the rehabilitation of some roads in Ibadan metropolis, but I am always bothered by the quality of work being done by contractors.
In actual fact, these roads I am pleading for were awarded to some contractors just a couple of years ago, and they are in more terrible condition today than when they were first awarded.
However, there are some inner community roads which the local government did in our areas that are still standing strong until the water contractor came to destroy them.
I am, therefore, appealing to the state government and the Ido local government to come to our aid.
