THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has established 15 outposts along the Abuja-Kaduna Road, covering Zuba, Bwari, Jere and Kaduna routes as a means of ensuring security of the roads for six weeks, commencing from March 8.
The decision was taken by the Corps as part of security measures following the relocation of air services from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to the Kaduna Airport.
NSCDC Commandant General, Alhaji Abdulahi Gana Muhammadu, made the disclosure in a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune, on Thursday.
According to him, the decision to establish the 15 outpost along Abuja-Kaduna Road was born out of the need to provide security during the six weeks that operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja would be moved to the Kaduna Airport.
“We are doing all within our powers to strengthen relationship with relevant stakeholders in order to achieve the desired result”, he said.
Gana also assured motorists travelling to the northern part of the country through the Kaduna-Abuja Road of their safety during the period, saying the corps had mapped out strategies to ensure security along the road.
