23-yr-old boy arrested for defrauding Nollywood star’s fan

A 23 year-old suspect, Sylvester (Surname withheld), who opened a Facebook account to defraud a fan of a Nollywood actor of huge sums of money, has been arrested by the police in Lagos State.

Sylvester was arrested by the police after the Nollywood  star, Michael Godson Ifeanyi, reported that some unnamed persons had cloned his Facebook account .

Confirming the arrest of the suspect to Lagos Metro, the image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect  would be charged to court for obtaining money under false pretence.

The arrested suspect and others had reportedly collected a huge amount of  money from fans of the actor under the guise of organising a film festival.

The suspect was arrested by policemen from the Maroko divisional police station, while trying to collect N3 million from a France-based fan of the actor.

According to Badmos, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Maroko police station, Abdulmajid Isah,  and  his men traced the suspect to the point where he had wanted to collect another money under false pretence.

The Delta State-born suspect confessed to the crime and added that he was just a member of a syndicate.

The state police boss, Fatai Owoseni, has directed the divisional police officer to charge the suspect to court and also ensure that other members of the gang were arrested

Owoseni also warned fraudsters that the command would do everything possible to stop such nefarious acts in the state.
