An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded in prison two men, Nasiru Mustapha and Jubirila Amadu, after pleading guilty to theft of N1.14 million goods.
The duo of Mustapha, 22 and Amadu, 30, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, who handed down the verdict, said the accused should be kept in prison for facts and sentence.
Earlier, Insp Chinalu Nwadione, the Prosecutor, told the court that the accused had committed the offences on Feb 25 at No 139, Broad St, Lagos Island.
He said the accused broke into the shop of Kenechi Ekeh, the complainant, and carted away goods worth N1.14 million.
The prosecutor listed the items stolen as eight units of Samsung LED 24-inch television, two units of TCL 24-inch television, two Samsung 20-inch televisions, one HP laptop, two units of Sony DVD.
Others are one Sony car stereo, three clippers, two Phillips pressing irons, two Binatone pressing irons, five Bluetooth ear phones and one DBR, all valued at N1.14 Â million.
The offences, Nwadione said, contravened Sections 287, 306 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)Â reports that Section 306 provides five years imprisonment for offenders, while Section 409 stipulates two years.
The case has been adjourned to March 14.
